Chromecast not showing up in Netflix

After you tap the cast button Chromecast Icon, you may need to tap Allow to let Netflix find and connect to devices on your local network.

If you tap the cast button Chromecast Icon and your TV or Chromecast isn't shown, it means a setting or network issue is stopping Netflix from finding your device on your Wi-Fi network.

Note:
If you can't find the cast button Chromecast Icon anywhere in the Netflix app, follow these troubleshooting steps instead.

To fix the problem, follow the steps for your device.

Android phone or tablet

Restart your device

  1. Turn off your device. If your device has a power cable, unplug it.

  2. Make sure your device is completely off, not just in sleep or standby mode.

  3. Leave your device off for 15 seconds.

  4. Turn on your device and try Netflix again.

Turn on Cast discovery setting

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Settings app.

  2. Tap Google > Devices & sharing > Cast options.

  3. Turn on Guest mode or Use network information.

  4. Try Netflix again.

Note:
Guest mode will automatically turn off after 2 hours. You'll need to turn it back on to keep watching.

Check your Chromecast's Wi-Fi network

  1. Open the Google Home app on your Android phone or tablet. If you don't have it, you can get it from the Google Play Store.

  2. In the lower left, tap the Home icon, then scroll down to find your Chromecast.

    • If you can't find your Chromecast, or it shows as Offline, you might need to plug it in or connect it to the same network as your phone or tablet. For help, follow Google's steps to connect your Chromecast to another network.

    • If your Chromecast appears as On, it's on the right network.

  3. Try Netflix again.

iPhone or iPad

Restart your device

  1. Turn off your device. If your device has a power cable, unplug it.

  2. Make sure your device is completely off, not just in sleep or standby mode.

  3. Leave your device off for 15 seconds.

  4. Turn on your device and try Netflix again.

Turn on Local Network access

To allow Netflix to find the Chromecast or TV on your local network:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. In the list, find and tap Netflix.

  3. Make sure the Local Network setting is turned on.

Check your Chromecast's Wi-Fi network

  1. Open the Google Home app on your iPhone or iPad. If you don't have it, you can get it from the App Store.

  2. In the lower left, tap the Home icon, then scroll down to find your Chromecast.

    • If you can't find your Chromecast, or it shows as Offline, make sure it's plugged in and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your iPhone or iPad. For help, follow Google's steps to connect your Chromecast to the right network.

    • If your Chromecast appears as On, it's on the right network.

  3. Open Netflix, then try again.
