When do we get iready results?

Anonymous
I honestly don’t even remember what my kids got in previous years or when they got the scores.

I’ve been wondering the same. I asked the teacher at BTSN but didn’t get a concrete answer.

I never have.

I figure no news is good news. Although I'm curious, so maybe I should ask.

In previous years, the iready report has been included with the first quarter progress report, or giving out at the November conferences. At least at my school.

Teacher here. I wouldn't be able to give a date and I'm not sure how the letters will go home this year. We are just now starting the i-Ready assessments.

Teachers, is this test really even useful for you? I looked at it over my kids' shoulder and was shocked to see the content. First, there were a couple of just plain wrong answers. Definitions to words that were simply incorrect, but supposed to be the correct choice. Second, most of the content did not match any part of the curriculum, either sol or pos.

Last year, we had to request them in order to get them.

you have to ask for them if you want to see them.

You won’t. It’s to drive instruction and it has its own bizarre scale that won’t even make sense for you lacking the context of how iready scores and what those scores mean.

It's really not that hard to find them. We always found the comparison between scores at different times to be the most helpful. It was funny in a sad way that both my kids' scores went down throughout the year last year.

Ok this is true so I will amend. If you ask for them, you will need to find the scoring guide and interpret the results yourselves because teachers don’t have time to explain it and break it down when it is only for their instructional purposes anyway. Which is why parents don’t get them usually.

Aren’t the iReady results supposed to be part of the dyslexia screening (not an effective part perhaps)?

It’s really a poor test. Please don’t stress over your child’s scores. They were going to get rid of it before the pandemic.

That is one of the functions of iready, yes. It works, too, from what I understand.

I’m not stressed over it hut I am curious. We have had no real feedback on our child for what, about 7 months now. Especially for my first grader it is hard to guise him to appropriate books for his reading level. He always gravitates towards ones that seem too hard to me. I’d take any feedback at this point.
