The Highlights Of Henry McMaster's First Year In Office

It’s been quite a year for Governor Henry McMaster. He was sworn in as the 117th governor of South Carolina on January 24, 2017, and he’s been busy ever since. Here are some of the highlights of his first year in office:

January:

Governor McMaster took office and immediately began working to make South Carolina a better place. He signed an executive order creating the Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics and announced his support for a $1 billion investment in the state’s infrastructure.

February:

Governor McMaster traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with President Donald Trump and members of Congress. He also met with U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to discuss ways to improve South Carolina’s schools.

March:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will allow South Carolina to offer tax incentives to companies that create jobs in the state. He also announced his support for a plan to fix the state’s roads and bridges.

April:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will make it easier for military families to transfer their children’s school records to a new school district. He also announced his support for a plan to make South Carolina’s colleges and universities more affordable.

May:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will make it illegal to text while driving in South Carolina. He also announced his support for a plan to improve the state’s foster care system.

June:

Governor McMaster traveled to New York City to participate in a meeting of the National Governors Association. He also announced his support for a plan to attract more businesses to South Carolina.

July:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry their guns in more places. He also announced his support for a plan to improve the state’s mental health system.

August:

Governor McMaster traveled to Texas to meet with Governor Greg Abbott and tour the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. He also announced his support for a plan to help South Carolina families affected by the hurricane.

September:

Governor McMaster traveled to North Carolina to meet with Governor Roy Cooper and tour the damage caused by Hurricane Florence. He also announced his support for a plan to help South Carolina families affected by the hurricane.

October:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will make it illegal to drive under the influence of drugs in South Carolina. He also announced his support for a plan to improve the state’s workforce development system.

November:

Governor McMaster signed a bill into law that will allow people to use medical marijuana in South Carolina. He also announced his support for a plan to make South Carolina’s schools safer.

December:

Governor McMaster announced his support for a plan to improve the state’s election system. He also announced his support for a plan to make South Carolina’s economy more competitive.

As you can see, it’s been a busy and productive first year for Governor McMaster. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in 2018!
